The Morrison Government has established a new whole-of-government volume sourcing agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) which will bring additional savings for government and taxpayers.

Minister for Government Services, Stuart Robert, said the agreement with AWS facilitates easier access to secure and accredited cloud services in a contemporary delivery environment.

‘The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) continues to expand whole-of-government volume sourcing agreements to ensure government agencies have ready access to the best pricing, terms and conditions,’ Minister Robert said.

‘Government agencies regularly engage AWS services, each with separate contracts. The new arrangement represents an opportunity to provide cost reductions through efficiencies of scale.

‘Over a number of years, aggregated procurement has allowed us to leverage the bulk-buying power of the government to negotiate consistent and improved terms and conditions.’

As agencies implement cloud-based services there is also an opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to assist agencies in their cloud adoption via the DTA’s Cloud Service Panel.

This agreement is part of the government’s agenda to transform ICT procurement to make it simpler, clearer and faster for agencies and industry to transact services.

Volume sourcing agreements have now been established with Amazon Web Services, SAP, Microsoft, Concur and IBM, which have led to significant savings for taxpayers.

Government agencies can access the agreement now. Further information about the agreement is available at
