Over 140,000 Australians downloaded their International COVID-19 proof of vaccination on the first day of the Morrison Government’s launch.

With plans to safely reopen the international borders being finalised, Minister for Government Services Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said the new certificate would provide Australians with a secure and trusted way to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccinations when heading overseas.

“We are a nation renowned for loving to travel and 148,920 unique downloads to 8pm last night shows many people are keen to get back in the air,” Minister Reynolds said.

Under Phase C of the National Plan, international travel is on track to reopen safely to fully vaccinated Australians.

The International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate gives Australians and Australian visa holders internationally recognised proof of their vaccinations as international borders open.

To request the document, people need to have had at least one COVID-19 vaccination recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register and a valid Australian or foreign passport which has a visa.

“The easiest way to request your international certificate is online using your Medicare online account through myGov or the Express Plus Medicare app,” Minister Reynolds said.

“In most cases, the document is readily available within seconds of completing the request, and can be saved in your device or printed for hard copy proof.”
